Frank Licsko was born in Hungary in 1946 and moved to Canada in 1957. Basically self-taught, has been a professional artist for over 50 years and is internationally recognized for the laborious rendering of fine details evident in most of his work. He moves around realism, etherealism and surrealism, with his unique use of perspective and layering of the scenes. He paints mainly in oils on canvas and his originals are in impressive collections worldwide, including the Emperor of Japan and corporate collections such as Technicolor. Presently based in Vancouver.
“An artist should paint the kind of pictures to open minds, rather than painting puzzles to be interpreted”
Frank Licsko, 1980
